Start by having them take the bust masurement and then the under the bust measurement. Next the waist measurement(the smallest part of he body just above the navel). Lastly, take the hip measurement or rather the largest part nearest the hip. Choose the dress size which is closest to the largest measurement of the body, which is usually the bust, but not always. Then have the dress altered to fit.
